Your mappings stay on your Mac.

Facet keeps mouse profiles and configuration local. A small amount of data is used to run the trial, licensing, purchases, downloads, and support.

App data

Your button mappings, app profiles, Action Ring choices, and interface preferences are stored locally on your Mac. Facet does not intentionally upload those settings to its licensing service.

Trial and license checks

Facet sends a one-way, locally hashed installation identifier to start a five-day trial, check access, activate a license, and enforce the three-Mac activation limit. The raw Mac hardware identifier is not sent. The service stores trial dates, activation timestamps, transaction references, license status, and cryptographic hashes of purchase email addresses and license keys.

Purchases

Paddle processes checkout as merchant of record and may collect billing, payment, tax, fraud-prevention, and transaction information. Facet does not receive or store your full payment-card number. Purchase details needed to issue, recover, or revoke a license may be shared with Facet by Paddle.

To recover an interrupted checkout, the purchase page stores a random claim token, Paddle transaction reference when available, and the same one-way installation identifier in your browser for up to 30 days. You can remove this data by clearing site storage in your browser.

Website and support

The website and its hosting providers may process standard request logs such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp. If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to answer you, investigate problems, and maintain purchase records.

Retention and choices

License and transaction records are retained while needed to provide purchased access, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. You can deactivate a Mac in Facet. For privacy questions, email hello@coolermac.com.
